 This Blog is moving to a word press platform.  Blogger is no longer actively supported by Google and has become more and more awkward to use.    I feel like I am swimming upstream every time I try to put together a simple post.   Please take a look at https://intotheblue2018.wordpress.com/ and sign up for email notifications.  The past bike trips are all archived there and Tom added pictures from our Covid - summer Idaho Hot Springs route.  We completed about 500 miles with son, Daniel and his (now) wife, Kelby.    This was our first bikepacking experience and it is very different from bike touring on paved roads.

Beginning  mid- August we will be trekking the Tour du Mont Blanc through Switzerland, France and Italy and then riding our loaded bikes about 900 miles from the source of the Rhine River in Andermatt, Switzerland all the way to the North Sea.  These are two separate adventures.  You can find the link to the trek here: https://www.macsadventure.com/us/tour-651/complete-tour-du-mont-blanc-in-huts/  It takes 12 days and covers the entire route around the Mont Blanc peak.  We will trek 100 miles, gain and lose lots of elevation, and hopefully have some spectacular clear views on top.   

We can't wait to get back on the road - this time in Europe.

After hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc we have a rest day or two and then will take a train to the start of our cycling route in Andermatt, Switzerland.  Search for images of this place and you will be impressed by its rugged beauty.  I can't wait to see it!  Our bike tour will follow the Rhine River through all its twists and turns until it empties into the sea at the port of Rotterdam.  We think it will take between 20 and 30 days to ride, depending on how leisurely we take it.  Our friends, Annie and Steve will be pedaling every mile with us.  You can look back at the 2021 C&O canal trip or the 2022 Ohio to Erie ride to meet Ann and Steve if you haven't already.   They are the two on the far left as you look at this photo.
