Family Time

Milwaukee Skyline

June 6, 2021 and June 7, 2021 - hanging out in MKE

Summer arrives while we are not looking.  It is 90+ degrees in Milwaukee, and fortunately we are not riding.  We are hanging out at Peter and Sydney's house with fans blowing on us.  The dogs are lying around panting.  Peter makes tasty kabobs on the grill for dinner.   It is so good to be able to visit after the long Covid isolation.

On Sunday we take a ride from the house to downtown Milwaukee.  There are bike trails the whole way and the trail is Sunday-morning packed with families, dog walkers, cyclists, a bike event fun ride, and even a unicyclist.

Sunday evening's agenda includes a required dinner at Sorella.  This restaurant comes highly recommended by our friend, Barb Hipsman.  It isn't a casual recommendation.  Barb sends us a gift certificate to make sure we don't skip out.  Her niece's husband is owner and head chef there.    The food is all very good and the atmosphere is very hip and comfortable. https://www.sorellamke.com/  It is sort of fancy but luckily there are some other casually dressed guests.  The only clothes I have for off my bike are a clean tee shirt and shorts.

yarn bombing in Bayview near the restaurant

If you think the yarn bombing abouve looks cool, you can email MeMaknits@yahoo.com and tell her you like her work.  It is the most complicated yarn bombing I have ever seen.

Hi, Barb! We took this selfie for you!

On Monday, we are taking the express ferry to Muskegon.  I think the lake is a bit wider here than where we crossed from Ludington and this ferry takes half the time to cross.  The sky is cloudy and there is thick fog over the lake.  When we get off in Muskegon a light rain is falling.  We ride about 8 miles to P. J. Hoffmaster State Park. The light rain continues and we cook some soup under the tarp.  Our site has a nice wooden platform for the tent.  The park is petty full for a Monday night in early June.  These Michigan families really like to camp!

I will leave you with some pictures of Peter and Sydney's dogs.  They deserve some blog space.
