Delaware, Ohio to London, Ohio
48.2 miles

Our warm showers hosts in Delaware, Ohio.  We discovered that we have a common friend in Kent.

Only 6.5 miles to London

We left Delaware thinking we would alter plans and ride a shorter day. But, once we started riding we were happy to discover that the wind was mostly behind us. We decided to go all 50 (ish) miles to London, Ohio.  Our average speed should certainly improve without the endless headwind.  Around mile 42 our route proceeded onto the Ohio to Erie trail which we will follow from here to Milford,Ohio.  https://www.ohiotoerietrail.org/  This trail goes across Ohio from Cleveland to Cincinnati.

West Jefferson has a very nice bakery with delicious apple fritter muffins.  It was a good place for a break.  We bought some day old pumpkin bread to have with breakfast tomorrow at the campsite.

Old quilts on the tables and nice china made the muffins even more special.

We rolled along past numerous farms growing more soybeans than I can imagine the world ever consuming. There is also corn and sorghum grown here, but mostly soybeans.  It seems a new cash crop for farmers near Dublin, Ohio is simply land.  New houses are growing in a lot of fields.

Yesterday's Ewes - fine fiber and vintage finds in downtown London

The no cost cyclist-only trailside campsite at London is cool. There is a pavilion, lots of flat grassy tenting space, four tent platforms, restroom, and even a makeshift shower. The shower consists of a wooden enclosure with a home garden sprayer attached to one wall. The sprayer is filled with warm water from the bathroom which is carried over to the shower in the bucket provided.

It wasn’t exactly a peaceful night. There were trains nearby and they crossed a great number of roads requiring liberal whistle blowing. The campsite is directly behind the town’s senior citizen center which remains very well-lit all night long. But, did I mention the camping is free?
