Key West

Key West as tourists
March 22, 2019
Approximate milage was 10+/- around town

Total trip- just under 900 miles in 22 days,  Three of which we would classify as rest days- one in St. Augustine, one to visit Cape Canaveral, and one on Key Largo.

Tom ponders what life would be like living on a fishing boat in the Keys.  Thanks to Captain Chuck and SeaClusion for the great accomodations.

We spent much of the day at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park beach, enjoying the sun and watching the ships move in and out of Key West harbor.

The beach was beautifully shaded by pines and palms.

The blue waters are inviting for swimmers and snorklers.

Iguanas were everywhere and often jumped across the bike trails as we approached on our bikes.  We even saw one iguana swimming in an ocean channel.  This one is about 3' long.

A three hour ferry ride back to Marco Island was a special end to a great trip.

Thank you to all the Warm Shower hosts and new friends we made on our journey.   Thanks to all our friends and family following our blog and offering encouragement along the way.  Thanks to Jim and Dorothy Euclide for the transportation to and from the route and all the other support. We had fun exploring Florida and enjoying the brilliant sunshine.
