On Monday, May 7, 2018, Julia and I woke to sunny weather and decided it would be a great day to pack our bikes as a test-ride for our 3 month plus trip to Newfoundland. We mapped our 30 mile route and left after lunch.
All went very well. We arrived at the campground at about 4:30 and found a perfect site right on the lake. We were a bit surprised at the requirement to book our site on-line rather than at the gate, and even more surprised when the reservation service tacked on an additional $8 to the cost. Oh well,
that's the price for a nice night out.
Wildlife witnessed: Red Headed woodpeckers, bald eagle, osprey, and the typical woodland birds (jays, robins, sparrows, etc.). We were also visited by a raccoon who tried to steal our breakfast from Tom's pannier.
Lessons learned: 1.Hang food if you don't want to chase raccoons in the middle of the night.
2. steel-cut oats are better if they are cooked for 3 minutes.
