In which we are introduced to Leo

Day 3 Ashtabula to Leo's house in Erie, PA

We got an early start and left Ashtabula at 8:00 am.  The weather was fine and we made good time for the first 15 miles.  We stopped in Conneaut to make our oatmeal at a beautiful park overlooking the lake.  It was very WINDY , but otherwise perfect.  Then, we made a quick stop at the library to use the wifi  for banking and to print a knitting pattern for Julia.

We cycled along quiet roads to Erie Bluffs State Park where we made our lunch and looked at all the wildflowers.  There is no invasive garlic mustard so the trillium were fantastic.  We enjoyed a leisurely stop and a brief hike to see the flowers.
There were thousands of trillium on the hillside.

After lunch it felt like it was all uphill to Erie.  Our overnight was with a warm showers host, Leo, who really pampered us.  We stayed in a beautiful private room with our own bathroom.  Julia did a load of laundry and Leo and Bonnie made sure we always had a beer or wine in hand.  We had a delicious dinner of pulled pork and coleslaw, etc. all compliments of our hosts.  Leo is quite a talker and by night’s end he had told us of many of his cycling adventures.  I don’t think we could find better hospitality anywhere.
Our warm showers hosts, Leo and Bonnie.  I hope we meet again.
