We rode out of town and followed along the bay. We wanted to take the three capes scenic route but a sign declared the road closed, so we took an alternate way. Our original plan included a side trip out to Cape Meares lighthouse, but by the time we climbed all the hills along the way, we abandoned that idea and headed straight to Cape Lookout and our site for the night. The beach there was beautiful with a few little tide pools and cliffs rising straight up from the ocean. All night long we listened to the crashing waves. The almost full moon rose in the east and set right over the sea.
