Cape Lookout to Lincoln City

Our Pacific view site at Cape Lookout
We had a day of hills, hills, hills, with the biggest climb of the whole trip.  It was just a couple minutes out of the campground rising about 830' in a little less than 2 miles up and over the cape.  Later we took a forest service road through Siuslaw National Forest.  There the surprisingly well-maintained road rose about 725' from sea level and we climbed for about 6 miles which seemed like forever.  But the downhill was amazing.  The town of Otis had a tiny little cafe which featured homemade pies, so we refueled there with marionberry pie for Julia and strawberry rhubarb for Tom.

Once we made it to Lincoln City we walked along the beach and spotted some grey whales spouting.
